GardenAI (“GardenAI,” “we,” “us”) is an AI-based garden assistant that helps you identify plants, turn your garden details into care guidance, and keep seasonal tasks organized. If you connect Google Calendar, GardenAI can sync plant-care reminders to your calendar. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@gardenai.io.
1. Who we are
GardenAI is an AI-based personal gardening assistant operated at gardenai.io. You can reach us at hello@gardenai.io for any privacy request, including access or deletion of your data.
2. Data we collect
- Account & identity. When you sign in, we store basic account details such as your name, email address, profile image, sign-in method, and account identifier. If you sign up with email, we store your email and a hashed password.
- Garden & plant data. Garden details you provide, such as garden names, location information like zip code, growing conditions, notes, plants you add, photos you upload for plant identification, and the care plans and tasks GardenAI creates for your garden.
- Google Calendar data. If you connect Google Calendar, we store the authorization credentials needed to maintain the connection and identifiers for the GardenAI calendar events we create for you (see Section 3).
- Feedback. If you send us feedback in the app, we keep your message and limited app context, such as the page you were on and device or browser details.
- Usage & diagnostics. Basic product usage and diagnostic information, such as feature events, counts, errors, and aggregate analytics, to understand how the product is used and where it needs attention.
3. Google user data & the Calendar API
When you choose to connect Google Calendar, GardenAI asks for permission to create and manage GardenAI plant-care reminder events. We use that access for one purpose only:
- To create, update, and delete plant-care reminder events on your calendar as your care plan changes.
- We do not read, analyze, or store your other calendar entries; we only manage the events GardenAI itself creates.
- We never sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers needed to provide and secure Calendar sync (Section 5).
- To keep your calendar in sync in the background, we store Google calendar authorization credentials. These are held server-side, never exposed to the browser, and are deleted when you disconnect Calendar or delete your account.
GardenAI’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. How we use your data
- To provide AI-assisted plant identification and garden-care guidance based on the information you choose to add.
- To build and update seasonal care plans for your garden and plants.
- To sync care tasks to your Google Calendar and send optional daily care emails you have turned on.
- To secure your account, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
5. How we store & share data
Your data is stored using managed cloud infrastructure and transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access is limited to authorized systems and personnel with a business need. We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers (“subprocessors”) that operate GardenAI on our behalf:
- Account sign-in and optional calendar sync providers.
- Hosting, database, storage, security, and operational monitoring providers.
- Analytics and diagnostics providers that help us understand app performance and reliability.
- AI and plant-intelligence providers that help identify plants and generate care guidance.
- Email delivery providers for account messages and care reminders.
These providers are permitted to process data only as needed to provide services to us. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. Your rights & choices
- Disconnect Google Calendar at any time from within GardenAI, or revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions. On disconnect we stop syncing and delete the stored calendar authorization credentials.
- Access or delete your data. Email hello@gardenai.io to request a copy of your data or deletion of your account. Deleting your account removes your gardens, plants, care plans, and Google Calendar authorization credentials.
7. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete the associated personal data, except a minimal, anonymized operational record kept for security and integrity.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
9. Contact
For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at hello@gardenai.io.
